One woman’s “Romance” with Urinary Infections

D id you know that urinary infection is the second most common

infection and the MOST common bacteria infection reported by outpatients of primary care clinics worldwide? According to medical evidence, at least 50% of all women will experience one or more urinary infections during their lifetime, and up to date, the economic impact of the disease accounts for about $1.6 billion annually!

MY concern however, is for the masses of people who are unaware of the lifetime complications a single urinary infection can cause, if not properly diagnosed or treated. Approximately 7 million cases of acute cystitis (severe bladder infection) are diagnosed annually, most of which could be better treated, or even easily avoided.

My name is Gabriela Wilson, and I personally used to suffer from a chronic urinary infection for over 15 years. It all started with one urinary infection that permanently damaged my bladder because it didn’t clear up completely. Usually this happens when a patient doesn’t complete his course of antibiotics, or when he is given the wrong type of medication. In my case though I was following the antibiotic treatment very rigidly, and symptoms were fading out, but unfortunately I was unaware of the fact that my body was developing resistance to the antibiotics. Following my body- bacteria did just the same, and sure enough- three weeks later the infection returned.

The following years since than, were a constant battle against a persistent bacterium that doesn’t let go. My chronic condition claimed its price in literally every aspect of my life, and I cannot sufficiently describe how miserable I became due to this condition. Luckily the urinary infections were only reappearing in my bladder and not in my kidneys. Otherwise I believe things would have surely been much more “messy” for me.

For the most part I was treated with antibiotics but with very little success. I always knew that I was poisoning my body with my heavy antibiotic consumption, and I simply hated it! (I was suffering from 10-15 urinary infections a year!).

Due to my recurrent urinary infections and extensive usage of antibiotics, I developed a twofold problem: a devastated immune system on the one hand, and very immune bacteria to battle with on the other. So for me, urinary infections were only enhanced by my numerous antibiotic treatments. One infection was leading to another, and my situation only got worse and worse.

It was 4 years ago that I decided to put an end to this bacterium terror within my tract, and started doing a massive research on alternative treatments for urinary infections. Following my research I started trying out all kinds of alternative medicines but with very little improvement. Still I strongly believed in the curing power of herbs, and as my knowledge of them deepened, I started becoming my own pharmacist.

One of the most important milestones I made during my years of attempt to cure my recurrent urinary infections, was having come with an herbal tea formula which helped me reduce the number of urinary infections from 10-15 infections a year to as little as 4-5!

Basically I was drinking a daily brew made of: Buchu and bearberry leaves, Green tea, Salvia, Melissa and Echinacea drops. Whenever a urinary infection was at the gate, I would simply increase the daily amounts of this tea, and supplement my diet with 3 daily shakes of mashed cranberries mixed with plain yogurt and honey. As a result of this treatment my antibiotic consumption during infections dropped in half.

But after that came the BIG discovery: It optimized my treatment method to such… (next)
